Sportfishing

As soon you get onboard, please tell the captain the specific fish you are after and he will tell you if it’s possible to do so. Cabos is a very unique place; water temperature in the Sea of Cortez could differ from the Pacific Ocean up to 10 degrees. A good fishing plan could make a difference in catching fish at the right place.

The are two techniques for fishing in Los Cabos (San jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas), Trolling and Casting.

The Trolling technique is very effective; we troll artificial lures and sometimes live bait. When trolling, we put 4 to 5 fishing lines in the water with artificial lures (all sizes and colors) and we go at a speed of 8-9 knots per hour in order for the lures to work right. Trolling requieres lots of patience and luck.

The Casting technique is applied when the captain sees a fish afloat (Sttriped Marlin, Sailfish and swordfish) and gets as close as possible in order to throw live bait to it. This technique is very exciting because you have the opportunity to see the fish go for the live bait and get hooked.

We are always willing to let you apply your own technique or hook setting; but remember, the captains and the mates know these water better than anyone else. They consider them their own “backyard”.

Your fishing apparel should be just like you war at the beach (suntan lotion, sunglasses, towel, shorts, white or clear rubber sole shoes, etc)

We strongly believe that fishing is a sport that can be enjoyed even more when you are patient.

These are the average water temperatures for each of the following fish:

Swordfish 69 – 71 F
Wahoo 70 – 72 F
Sailfish 72 – 75 F
Dorado 72 – 75 F
Yellowfin Tuna 72 – 75 F
Striped marlin 72 – 75 F
Blue Marlin 75 – 81 F
Black Marlin 75 – 81 F
